Where can I buy sod near Smyrna, Dover, or Middletown?
Our farm at 1400 Smyrna Leipsic Rd is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with Saturday hours available on request. We’re a short drive from Dover, Clayton, Cheswold, Townsend, and Middletown, and we deliver throughout the region.
Do you sell sod by the roll or only by the pallet?
Both. Each hand-stacked piece measures 20″ x 40″ (5.5 sq ft), and a full pallet covers 500 sq ft. We regularly fill small patch orders as well as multi-pallet commercial jobs.

How much does sod cost in Delaware?
Sod pricing depends on the quantity ordered, whether you pick up or take delivery, and whether you’re adding professional installation. How do I know how much sod to order?
Multiply the length by the width of each area you’re sodding to get square footage, then divide by 500 for the number of pallets. Irregular yards are easy to get wrong — call us with your measurements and we’ll confirm before you order.
How far in advance should I place an order for delivery?
Our Turfgrass Varieties
Apgar Turf Farm specializes in Delaware Certified Tall Fescue. We grow Black Beauty, a premium tall fescue blend selected specifically for the Delmarva climate. Unlike some suppliers, we focus exclusively on this high-performance variety—we do not sell Bluegrass or Zoysia. Our Black Beauty sod is deep-rooted, heat- and drought-tolerant, and durable enough for high-traffic residential lawns, athletic fields, and commercial landscapes.
All of our sod is regulated by the State of Delaware and grown from certified, weed-free grass seed. We also sell Black Beauty grass seed in 7 lb and 50 lb bags for overseeding and repair work.
